Pre-Kindergarten

Your five year olds day will begin with focusing on teaching them to develop successful patterns of interaction and to gain greater self-understanding. Students will be able to demonstrate higher-level thinking that requires analysis, synthesis, and application of knowledge to new problems. Student’s motivation to learn is increased and positive peer relationship are promoted and developed.

Language arts will include phonics and reading. Recognition of name, sound, and picture of long and short vowels and consonants. Sounding of blends, one-and two-vowel words, and words with special sounds. Beginning phonics rules and special sounds. Reading of sentences and stories from twelve books containing one-and two-vowel words and special sounds.

Your child will learn science on the level of plants, animals, health and human biology, and earth and space.

Math skills will be implemented with number recognition, counting and writing 1-100, number concepts 1-100, numbers before and after, numbers largest to smallest, number sequence, using number words 1-10, math fact 1-10 by memory, using the calendar, days of the week, counting small coins, and telling time.

We will expose our five year olds to social studies teaching them about our community leaders, children of the world, map studies, famous Americans, foreign language, and different countries and places around the world.

Handwriting and computer skills will be taught.
